• SHOUT OUT TO WNU

This blog is totally random. I just saw that I had some blog traffic from the Philippines and I wanted to do a shout out to all my friends at WNU.

Last summer, 2007, my wife and I had the privilege of spending 9 days in that beautiful country and hanging out with some of the greatest people on this planet. The people of the Philippines are very generous and some of the most coolest folks we have ever met.

During our trip there, we were able to speak and lead worship at WNU and had the honor of witnessing over 900 students come to Christ. Needless to say, we have a real heart for the students there.

If you are reading this and attend WNU, I hope you will leave me a comment and let me know how the university is doing and how my wife and I can pray for you. If you don’t attend WNU, leave a comment and let me know where you’re from so I can pray for you as well.

We are looking forward to visiting again next summer and we pray that God will continue to change lives not only at WNU but all of the Philippines.

  • MULTICULTURAL: WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?

Over the past few years, God has been really been kickin’ my butt about being a church that looks like our community and what heaven will ultimately look like.

Our city is very racially diverse but on any given Sunday the churches in our area do not look like the city. We are all “grouped” up by skin color or by nationality.   We have predominantly white churches, black churches and the other nationalities go to their places of worship.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit it is tough getting the cultures together and staying together but with God ALL things are possible. Can I get an AMEN????

So, we prayed that God would give us people of different races so we could look like a multicultural church. Emphasis was on LOOK like.  See, we had this preconceived idea what a multicultural church looked like but God had a different LOOK for our church. (Read my son’s blog. He gives a more personal touch on this issue)

In the past few months God has brought to us people from Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Japan, Pakistan and he even added to our staff a worship leader who’s wife is from Argentina and who speaks the language fluently. How cool is that? We have African Americans, Hispanics and even a white guy or two.  I am totally amazed at what God is doing here at WC.

I never thought God would do it this way but God is doing exactly what we have asked Him to do, make us look like a multicultural church.
